writing and abstracting medical and scientific work
Welcome...
I am a freelance editor with more than 10 years' experience and offer my clients a firm foundation of editorial skills and experience, coupled with in-depth knowledge of medical specialisms, research and the publication process. I have a BSc and PhD in Physiology with Pharmacology from a British university and experience of research work in a hospital laboratory.
I specialise in editing, revising and proofreading medical and scientific research papers, reports and books. I have particular experience with medical textbooks and international health reports, and frequently work on multi-author specialist textbooks written by non-native English authors. I have additional experience of work on educational material, particularly in secondary science subjects.
I also offer writing, rewriting, development editing and project management, as well as drug checking for medical publications.
I go to great lengths to ensure documents are clear and well presented, free of inconsistencies and errors, and appropriate for their intended audience. I understand the importance of communication, confidentiality and deadlines, and work together with authors and publishers to achieve the highest standard of writing in the required time frame.
I am an advanced member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
I am happy to work on any of the following:
- Research manuscripts – abstracts and full papers. I can work on papers prior to submission to journals, taking particular care to match a 'house style', and can also give assistance with manuscripts following referees' reports
- Books
- Reports
- Grant and research proposals
- Oral presentations
I am also willing to take on other tasks – just ask for an estimate.
Material is accepted for hard copy or on-screen editing (see Services and Fee Structure).
Free estimates are always given on request, with no obligation, before a job is undertaken.
